Course Information

The G5 Courses for School Students (G5CSS) is a residential holiday summer programme held at central and surrounding locations in Oxford, offering more than a total of 14 weeks of annual master courses for school student learners (12 - 18 years).

These cover a wide range of subjects including English, Sciences, Mathematics Economics, Modern and Ancient Languages, and more. The courses are comprised of small group sessions and individual one to one tutorials.

There are 3 levels on each course and places are capped at 6 per level; preliminary students (12-14 years), GCSE students (14-16 years) and A-Level students (16-18 years). Accommodation for boys and girls are separate but tutorial sessions are mixed.

Weekly Programme Structure is set as a 5 day timetabled schedule comprising of group and one to one sessions and will normally be as follows:

Sunday:

Arrival & check in by 6pm in the evening, welcome dinner, brief orientation meeting with all tutors & students.

Mon. Tues. Thurs. Fri. Sat:

09.00-10.30 - Group Session

10.30-11-00 - Break

11.00–12.30 - Group Session

12.30–13.30 - Lunch

13.30–18.00 - Scheduled tutorials & assignment completion.

Wedenesday:

Course-related field trip and activities day.

Social Programme:
A range of optional cultural and social events will be offered throughout the evening of the course. These are likely to include: games quiz nights, cinema and theatre trips, Christ Church for Evensong, after-dinner talks and discussions.

Participants are taught in small seminar groups of up to 6 students, and will receive two one-on-one tutorials per subject with their assigned tutor per week.

During the course students will:

Participate in classes taught by tutors of academic distinction with a proven track record of successful tutoring
Groups are capped at 6 students per session
Intensive revision of all curriculum content from the previous school term
Academic 'get-ahead' booster sessions learning valuable study planning, study skills and exam techniques
Experience intensive learning in supportive friendly environment
Participate in field trips, cultural events and social events

All G5 Master courses include a range of subject which are taught through group seminars (10 during the timetables week) and individual tutorials (students can book up to two, one to one tutorials per subject per week).

Group Session Subjects include: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Onsite Tutorial Subjects include: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Modern and Ancient Languages, History, Geography and Economics. Any additional subjects can be booked, these may be scheduled as online tutorials.

Michaelmas Master Courses:

1) Midterm Break - 2 week duration, residential & virtual

2) Christmas Holiday - 1 week duration, virtual

Hilary Master Courses:

1) Midterm Break - 1 week duration, virtual

2) Easter Holiday - 2 week duration, residential & virtual

Trinity Master Courses:

1) Pre-exams - 2 week duration, virtual only

2) Summer Holiday - 6 weeks duration, residential & virtual

Course Guidelines

All fees are charged on a per week, per person basis. Tuition and meals are included in the programme fee, with both residential and non-residential options available. Please contact us at info@g5education.com for our course fees schedule.

Course change administration fee: Please note that course transfers may be permitted in exceptional circumstances; however, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, an administration fee of £50 will be charged. Please be aware that all payments (and refunds) are subject to exchange rates at the time of processing.

Payment terms:
Enrolment online: full payment by credit/debit card on or before the 6 week course commencement deadline date. We accept payments by bank transfer if payments are in Euros or Dollars and we accept payments by wechat payments transfer.

All payments must be received into our account by the deadline to confirm your place. We will not be help responsible if payments arrive late.

1. Cancellation by you: Participants who wish to cancel must inform the Programme Administrator in writing: by email to info@g5education.com The following cancellation and refund policy applies in all cases: Cancellation within 14 days of online 6 week deadline – a full refund of all fees paid. Cancellation within 7 days of online 6 week deadline – a partial refund of all fees paid. Cancellation within the 6 week course commencement date – no refund will be made but we will place you another course subject to place availability. A course replacement will only be extended as a one time offer.

2. Cancellation by us Where there is good reason, G5 Education reserves the right to cancel a course by giving you notice in writing at any time before the course is due to start. In these cases, we will endeavour to offer a transfer to another available course if practical and acceptable to you, subject to payment or refund of any difference in the course fees. Alternatively, we will refund the course fees that you have already paid. If we cancel a course, our liability is limited to the fees that we have received from you; this means that we will not compensate you for any pre-booked travel costs or any other expenses incurred. G5 Education reserves the right to cancel a course session at short notice in exceptional circumstances that would prevent the session or tutorial from being delivered e.g. tutor illness. In these rare instances, we will notify you as soon as possible and arrange a transfer to another available tutor but this may include virtual session options. Where course fees have been paid in currencies other than pounds sterling, euros or dollars, refunds will be subject to the exchange rate on the day they are processed.

3. Travel insurance G5 Education cannot be held responsible for any costs you may incur in relation to travel or accommodation bookings as a result of a course cancellation, or if you are unable to attend the course for any other reason. You are advised to check cancellation policies carefully and to purchase travel insurance.

Students are encouraged to bring a laptop to courses to assist them with their studies. For residential students, wireless internet access is available in all bedrooms; for all students, wireless access is available in communal spaces of the college.

For virtual students, you are responsible for making sure you have a wifi connection that is sufficient to support a consistent connection for the duration of sessions. We cannot be responsible for virtual students interrupted connections.

Student Application

Locations of the accommodation is confirmed 2 months in advance of the course commencement. Residential Courses are usually held in the central oxford colleges. Depending on demand and homestay bookings we sometimes hold courses at larger facilities in the lush and leafy surrounding country side locations always within short commutable distances from the city centre.

Please note that twin and triple rooms are available for students with shared bathroom facilities. Single rooms can be booked when they becomes available and usually at an extra cost. Applicants can select their preference on the enrolment form.

Virtual Students can participate in a variety of ways:

They can attend the entire course as a fully enrolled member of the courses. This means they can attend selected morning live group sessions and can attended as many afternoon individual tutorials as they would like. They will not participate on Wednesday field trips and evening social activities.

The casual virtual student can watch but not participate in all live and recorded sessions and they can participate in the written and homework assignments and tasks for which we will provide advise and feedback on.

Group session at the residential courses are all recorded. Some selected group session are published as live sessions for casual member to view. Students will be made aware and in advance of each the live session, they can opt out from attending these sessions entirely or can attend and opt to have their identities concealed.

Registration closes on 1 January each year. Most courses fill quickly so early registration is strongly recommended. If your preferred course is fully booked, you may wish to add yourself to the waiting list and the Programme Administrator will contact you should a place become available.

Please note, the programme is only open to those between the ages of 12 -18.

Accommodation preferences, as well as residential and virtual places may be applied for via the G5 Master Course application form

Online enrolments require payment in full, 6 weeks before the commencement date for the course, you will be reminded that payment is dues and advised about the location of the courses eight weeks in advance of the course. If payment is not received by the deadline, your place will be automatically awarded to the next available person on the waiting list.
